Bolton Castle
Yorkshire Dales

Castle Bolton was built by Sir Richard Le Scrope who was Lord Chancellor of England to King Richard II and was completed in 1399.
Mary, Queen of Scots arrived at Bolton Castle in 1568 after defeat at the Battle of Langside, her stay was a comfortable one until she left in 1569.
The Civil War saw the destruction of Bolton Castle but remarkably the South West Tower and West Curtain remained complete and habitable.
