Elvaston Castle Country Park was the first of it's kind in Britain and was opened to the public in 1970.

Elvaston Castle is not a castle as you can see, it was built in the early 1800's for the 3rd Earl of Harrington, it was designed by James Wyatt based on the original house dating back to 1633 and is set in over 200 acres of parkland.
