North Lees Hall, the tower was built in the 1590's, the Hall has had many owners but the best known was the Eyre family who lived here between 1750 and 1882. In 1845 Charlotte Bronte stayed with a friend in Hathersage, in her romantic novel "Jane Eyre", the description of Thornfield Hall home of Mr Rochester is regarded as being North Lees Hall. |
