Tissington
The Peak District

 


Tissington just four miles north of Ashbourne is a picturesque unspoiled village close to the Tissington Trail. The village has a Norman church, a village pond and Tissington Hall, the hall has been in the possession of the FitzHerbert family for over 500 years.
The Tissington Trail is used frequently by walkers, cyclists and pony trekking.

Hall Well, Tissington is well known for it's annual well dressing festival which runs
for seven days from Ascension Day each year, this year May 1st-7th 2008.

Two cyclists along the Tissington Trail near Alsop en le Dale,
 this part of the railway line from Ashbourne to Buxton which opened in 1899
 and was finally closed in 1967 and was later made into a bridleway that runs for
13 miles (21km) between Ashbourne and Parsley Hay.
